dentist can help. We as a family got a dentist that drilled too deep. family Dr gave us clarithromycin. How fast will this work. swelling looks like wisdom teeth were surgic removed. It is holiday I can't dr or dentist only emergencey room. No insurance. I am not sure if i am panicing or normal
Heelo panicmom, first, don't panic! The antibiotic may help. She also may have to have a root canal to deaden the nerves, & then a cap on that tooth. It's a painless procedure. Call yur dentist for a referral as most don't do them theirselves. If's it a wisdom tooth, it may just need to be pulled. Keep on the antibiotic to give it time to work. In the meantime make these calls & let your dentis know how much pain she is in. You do not mention her age, which is important for pain control Ibuprophen would be best. Advil is very good. Hope she gets feeling better soon...
The antibiotic will help, but it will take a couple of days. You can apply ice packs to the swelling site. Ibuprofen should help with both the swelling and the pain. You can buy dental wax at the drugstore to put on the broken tooth which should stop air from reaching the exposed nerve. Don't do this if the infection is draining from the tooth though.
If you have a dental college in or near your area, they normally run clinics that are income based.
I hope she feels better soon.
