seen alot of specialist but no luck, recently Lumbar specialist- studied the MRI result and everything look great but she still keeps suffering back pain, hip and leg pain; feel so helpless. everyone have any clues please help.
There are several chronic pain syndromes that would show nothing on xrays or mris. I would take her to a rheumatologist and have her evaluated. I've had fibromyalgia since I was a little girl and it started with the severe pain in my legs. My parents had me to doctor after doctor and they couldn't find anything. It wasn't until I was older and diagnosed with fibro that it all made sense. At that time they didn't accept fibro, much less fibro in children but they are now diagnosing it in children.
Has she had mri of her hips??? I've had a lot of trouble with my legs and shooting pain down from hips to bottom of my feet. For many, many years I was told and reassured it aas coming from my back and nerve damage. Almost 10 years later, one of my PTs suggested I get a hip study. So, I told my pm doc and who is a back specialist, too, that my PT wanted a hip study. He about laughed in my face and assured me that my symptoms were back related BUT to keep me happy... he would order the XRAYS. After they were done, he came back to me with a strange look on his face and said, "Well... your hips are shot and I'm referring you to our ortho specialist". So the ortho doctor looked at my XRAYS and told me my symptoms were "classic" for hip issues! So how could my symptoms also be classic for back??? I left that practice so upset because what I really needed were hip replacements! I have had one done, two years ago. The second hip will be done in 10 days.
I do have back issues but my left leg no longer has the shooting pain down the leg. I am assuming the same good result will hsppen for my right leg.
Best of luck and I hope you find more answers than you have questions without answers.
If you can't get any answers from the rheumatologist then you will have to try a large teaching hospital or if you are near or can afford the money, travel to the Cleveland Clinic or the Mayo Clinic. If you decided to do this just make sure that you call their concierge service to coordinate seeing all of the doctors that they will recommend once they review her records. The visit may last up to one week depending on how many doctors and test they decide to run.
