He's been really sick & I'm worried.
The treatments can work for Hep C. My uncle went through them a few years ago and is doing fine. However it is not good to drink when he is being treated. Talk to your family and try to plan a meeting to talk to him about his drinking. If he is an alcoholic he will need help to quit. Maybe you could go with him to his next doctor appointment and talk to the doctor. Or a friend or family member can take him to an AA meeting. He may not want to go but all you can do is try to help.
I agree totally with Lucyb. I have a friend who went thru Interferon treatments for HepC and was cured but the damage done to his liver could never be repaired. He was told never to drink alcohol in excess and to watch intake of Acetominaphen )?spelling? - Tylenol) as he takes pain medications. I hope that if you talk to your father and tell him you are concerned and love him, that he will understand. If you could talk to his doctor who is treating his HepC, his dr wouldn't want him drinking alcohol during the treatment. Your father may also be depressed as my friend was extremely sick during the treatment and couldn't do things he did normally before; the medications and injections made him lifeless, and he wasn't one who wanted to ask for help. Best of luck to you and let us know how things go.
