I am taking 25mic of cytomel along with 100 mics of Synthroid. My endocrinologist is not a fan of cytomel and I am his only patient on it. I have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. I am also in pain management for severe Fibromyalgia. I'm only 4"11and 1/2 and weigh 130 lbs. This is for the past 4 years. My normal weight was always 100 lbs give or take 5 lbs. I would like to increase my cytomel to 50 mics because I think this would help with my weight and my sluggishness. I cannot reason with him (my doctor). I told him that I would make sure that my heart rate and blood pressure are normal and I can tell when it is too high. He does not want to deal with it. I'm very frustrated. I know my meds for pain mgmt can cause weight gain and I've decreased them. I am at my wits end with this!!!
Aside from a change in Drs, there's a ton of things you can do to combat the weight issues with these meds, Hydration is crucial, stopping sugar (all forms) artificial sweeteners, caffeine, for some, spy and gluten, when to eat, portion size, etc. The nutritional approach can amaze when done correctly,so much mis-information out there on this, everyone talks about controlling / burning calories when fat burning is the target and water retention is a culprits.
