I need some advice. My son is highly infected with cmv. He is on no medication has in home therapy 1 time a week for 1 hour. And they are useless. Doesn't see a doctor regular I feel like no one is worried about him.
There really is no medication. Once we get cmv we never get rid of it. Many of us have it. Here is what the mayo clinic says There's no cure for CMV, and treatment for the virus generally isn't necessary or recommended for healthy children and adults.
Newborns and people with compromised immune systems, however, need treatment when they're having symptoms of CMV infection, such as pneumonia. The kind of treatment depends on the symptoms and their severity.
If treatment is needed, it's most often in the form of antiviral drugs. Antiviral drugs slow the virus reproduction, but can't cure it. Researchers are studying new medications and vaccines to treat and prevent CMV.
Does your son have a pediatrician? What kind of therapy does he have?
