Is there anybody starting to use ramucirumab for stomach cancer? If yes, can you please share the results?
My husband received his 1st treatment today in conjunction with taxol chemo therapy. They also gave him preventive meds prior to giving him the Cyramza & taxol. benadryl and a steroid compound were the preventive meds. He has stage 4 esophageal cancer that started right above the base of his stomach. When he was diagnosed it was found in the brain after having traveled from the esophogus. The cancer went away with chemo & radiation. It then re-appeared in his liver with more chemo treatment. It just came back in his liver again so they are trying the Cyramza and Taxol chemo together. He has slept since he got back home this evening. I am told that Cyramza was just recently approved by the FDA and my hubby is the first one to receive this treatment at his hospital, so there is not a lot of info at this time. I am under the understanding that if the initial tumor had HER 2 proteins there was noted success with Cyramza.
His esophageal biopsy was looked at prior to the decision to use Cyramza and was found to have the HER 2 proteins. I am interested to hear from you also how your families treatments are going. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
My sister began Cyramza yesterday in addition to Taxol. She has metastatic esophageal junction/stomach adenocarcinoma. She has had chemo, radiation, surgery, and now begins second round. Was told she will be receiving palliative treatment as long as effective. I am hopeful that Cyramza will be a mircle drug.
