the doctor gave me a script but afraid to take all the comments on another website were bad enough to not even start the medication and I was wondering if it works better for women or men and more of a certain age?
It can metabolize differently in different people and in different ages. Whether or not it actually works better in different ages has not been stated. If you have side effects that don't go away in a few days, you can always stop taking it. Some people do very well with it. Don't forget, on these type sites you're going to see 99% complaints.
I can only respond with my own experience.
I am 52 and was put on cymbalta for my Chronic pain but it did not help at all.
It does work fairly quickly for pain so you would know in the first 2 weeks whether it was going to help or not for pain. Try to stay at the lowest dose possible would be my recommendation and if it hasn't worked at all in the first 2 weeks then you can stop taking it with a minimum of side effects.
My doctor had me stay on for too long even though it wasn't helping and then I had horrible side effects when I stopped taking it.
I hope this helps.
Hi pfinney..if you read all the side effects of any drug or listen to all the negatives you will be reluctant to try anything that might help..give it a try, it,s not set in stone you have to stay on it if it isnt helping, remember every ones chemistry is different. I don,t think gender matters but age might, thats something ive never thought of and is a very good question,,, ive been on it for a few years and helps a bit with depression and anxiety but not as i would like it to,,, best of luck and i hope you feel better very soon!! hugs..Dani
