after stopping Cymbalta after 3 years... noticed i have pain in my upper arms (both) worse at night and first thing in the morning. i had stopped the Cymbalta on my own... had no pain when i was on it and this is the only thing i have changed... my question is can Cymbalta cause this kind of pain when off of it? I cannot sleep at night cause my arms hurt so bad... first thing in the morning even lifting a coffee cup hurts... I was taking 90 mg. at night only...
I wondered if Cymbalta caused me pain when I came off of it. It was a few years later howeve I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, which Cymbalta is one of the medications most frequently used to fight pain in Fibromyalgia patients. I now think it was reducing my pain so much and coming off of it made the pain benefits go away. Due to side effects I can't take Cymbalta, but now having tried many medications to help with my Fibromyalgia pain I can say Cymbalta was the most effective.
I'm uncertain if non-Fibromyalgia patients receive pain relief from Cymbalta. The area you described is one in which Cymbalta helped me. It's also an area where the ulnar nerve runs, which is susceptible to very sharp nerve pains if injured or if you have a condition such as Fibromyalgia.
A physical therapist who does manual manipulation could be of great help diagnostically and I would also highly recommend you look into dry needling --- it sounds so bad but it's really not and can be a huge pain reliever as well as increase mobility and function in the targeted areas of the body on which it's used.
If you think you may be like me and have Fibromyalgia then you may want to see a rheumatologist or your PCP if they deal with Fibromyalgia diagnoses.
No matter what is causing the pain I hope you find a cure soon - best wishes!
