im on 40 mg of celexa for my depression my PCP would like me to switch to cymbalta to help with both.
I was on Cymbalta for nerve pain from fibromyalgia but not for depression. For the first few years it worked great for the pain with minor side effects. Then it stopped working and I had worse side effects. I'm now being weaned off it and suffering very unpleasant withdrawal symptoms. Just make sure you research Cymbalta before you decide.
Cymbalta and Celexa are two different medications. I took Cymbalta for years for my nerve pain and supposedly for my depression, however I didn't notice it working on my depression. It did however help with the neuropathy I have in my feet due to multiple unsuccessful back surgeries. I liked Cymbalta, but then I went to refill the scrip and was told they weren't shipping anymore for some reason, so I had to replace it with Gabapentin. I've been on Gabapentin for a while now and it works great. I take 1200mgs. 3 times a day and I can't even tell I have neuropathy anymore. I do take Celexa as well for my major depression and anxiety, it really works for that, but did nothing for my nerve pain. I would talk to you doctor and see if he'll put you on the Cymbalta, but I'd also keep taking the Celexa if you have a depression or anxiety problem. Best of luck to you and God Bless!
