Hi, Albert! Cymbalta is absorbed within 6 - 10 hours but it takes several weeks, about 2 -6 weeks depending on what you're taking it for, to feel the full effects and 6-8 weeks to achieve therapeutic blood levels.

It usually takes about 2 weeks for chronic pain, longer for depression/anxiety.

I noticed an improvement within about 10 days with my nerve pain, and then it became "fully effective" for the nerve pain in about two weeks. My neurologist told me that it would take up to 4 weeks to help with anxiety, but my anxiety was from my nerve pain so as soon as the pain decreased I quit feeling so darn tense and on edge all the time.

I am on 20mg, which doesn't provide full relief all the time, but is enough to take the edge off so that it's manageable for me.
