i have been taking cymbalta for about 10 years... good for pain and depression... had brain zaps from time to time ..especially if i forgot to take cymbalta on time ..but now i have been taking the generic instead if real thing and i have been having brain zaps most everyday ... is anyone else having this problem ...
No, but I did experience a difference in effectivity . Some generic meds don't vary as much in effectivity (although many disagree), generic Cymbalta definitely behaved differently
I experienced "brain zaps" when I came OFF of another SSRI, Paxil. It is rather quite unpleasant. Perhaps another med is a good idea, or if you can afford it and tolerate the name brand well... have doctor write "medically necessary" and the insurance and pharmacy will comply. I'm sorry to hear you have this trouble.
When I filled my son's prescription, the pharmacy atomically gave us the generic brand of Cymbalta . I was a bit annoyed that that can do this without even letting us know. I called the pharmacy and they said we needed to connect the doctor and they would have to make the change to brand. Not wanting to though the hassle, my son started on the generic brand , about 3 weeks later he began to have brain Zapps everyday and feeling very tired. He has been Cymbalta for years and it has always worked great for him, and now being on the generic brand he is having a rough time on it.
Yes, I have not been able to use the generic because of this. I am looking for a NON time-release generic. Does anyone know if this exists? The cost of the brand name Cymbalta is becoming so high, I am not going to be able to afford it soon.
