Cutivate is a topical corticosteroid. The cream form is weaker than the ointment form and is an appropriate treatment for some but not all patients with alopecia areata. For many individuals, steroid injections with triamcinolone acetonide are a more appropriate choice.

Be sure to see a dermatologist to determine if Cutivate is right for you.
