I have been taking lexapro for years and have found it to be helpful. Yet lately I am noticing symptoms of A.D.D. My friends seem to have noticed it before I did. Long before actually. I have trouble staying focused, tend to interrupt, feel impatient when someone takes too long or moves too slowly, I am always reading several books at one time, starting more before finishing the ones I am reading. I dont realize that I make messes, leaving things out that I should have put up and feel like the mess increaes faster than I seem to want to keep it straight... is that enough detail??? :-) I play it off by being funny ( I think I am funny) but it is starting to impact my ability to get things done and to focus on the most important things to do.
I have been on ADD medication for 5 years straight, and had been on Lexapro for anxiety and depression for the past 2 years. If your friends noticed these symptoms even before you started lexapro, which, if you don't mind me asking... what led to you going on lexapro? If you were having some anxiety issues, along with some depression, your doctor may have felt lexapro was a good place to start. Also get your TSH levels checked. These are also symptoms of over or possibly underactive thyroid. I myself have Hashimotos disease (an autoimmune disease causing low thyroid levels) its been a battle. I can tell you this... once you start an ADD medication it is VERY hard to get off of it, I take vyvance 70mg daily and If I do not have my refill, I litterally can't get out of bed. I now sort of wish I would have been warned of the dependency of this drug. I also have started taking Pristiq 2 days ago, so I am not sure how it will work for me but I didn't feel lexapro was helping my depression, however, it did help my anxiety. Just talk to your doctor and let him know your "other" symptoms. Hope this helps!
