What does it mean if the doctor says I have plague after a corauded artery ultrasound?
It just means there is a little bit of cholesterol build up (or plaque) in the corotid arteries. It depends on how much plaque is built up as far as treatment. If the corotids are almost fully blocked, they may do a procedure to open them up and remove the plaques. If it is just a small plaque that isnt blocking blood flow much then they will just watch and you need to get a better control on your cholesterol levels. Lower your fat intake. Corotid artery blockage puts you at a higher risk for stroke.
