Hi, I just started Contrave 4 days ago. I know I'm supposed to increase the dose weekly. Has anyone here tried speeding this up? I seems like 4 weeks to get to the full dose is a long time. Wondering if I could increase every 4 to 5 days instead, (assuming I'm not having any issues with the med).
Hi Suebeth! I wondered why they gradually increase the dosage. It's never been explained to me anyway. I did read one post where the person's doctor didn't tell them to do the low dose to start with, they started with the full dose. I don't remember how they said they felt. I'll try to find that post.
Myself, I jumped to 2 pills a day (week 2) one day early. I wanted to take them on a day I didn't have to work :) this Wednesday I'm supposed to go to full dose. I'll probably start that a day early. When I started week 3 I just wanted to eat everything! I'd like to move away from that quickly if I could!
Thanks for the quick answer! I think I'm going to try to excelerate the dosing. Are you following a specific diet? Or just trying to "eat healthy?"
My doc let me speed it up because I had been taking 300 mg of Wellbutrin for a couple of yrs so to back off to such a low dose probably wasn't a good idea. I personally think 4 weeks to get to full dose is ridiculous but that is what manufacturer recommends. I increased dose about every 2-3 days so got on full dose in about a week.
Good question and good answers! I think I might accelerate the dosing too. One pill per day doesn't seem to be doing anything.
