I began use of prednisone today and will continue it for the next 2 weeks at a gradually reduced dosage.
This question has also been asked and answered here: Can you drink alcohol while taking prednisone?
As long as it is in moderation only.
There is no significant drug interaction between alcohol and prednisone.
Some would say it is generally best to avoid alcohol while taking Prednisone (and any other medicine) but there is no data to justify this.
My doctor says no. You see, many conditions and diseases are affected by alcohol as the body becomes dehydrated, food intake may be off and so forth. Since steroids also affect liver and kidney functions as well as blood sugars rising, it is not a good idea. Though your doses are low, no one can ever predict an adverse effect. Since that is true, why risk?
I view the body as a whole and not just the meds we put in it. Run this past your doctor to be sure. Ok?
