You don't need a condom to keep from getting pregnant while on Mirena because it is birth control, but it would be wise to use a condom to protect you from STD's and HIV if you are having sex with more than one person or if your partner is.
I am not a doctor, nurse, or pharmacist, so I am not an expert on the subject, but I was on Birth control for many years and know the basics, but if you want to be sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
