Twice in 4 months I have gone to an ER because I thought I was having a heart attack. Both times I left the hospital with no diagnosis. The 1st visit they gave me a stress test with contrast and an echo cardiogram. It was inconclusive. Tonight, they hooked me up to a monitor, took blood and took a chest xray; all of which was inconclusive. The nurse PA told me that after some research and a telephone conference with the doctor, they still had no concrete diagnosis, but they felt it was a tracheal spasm or ulcers. My sister died of a massive heart attack at age 56 only five years ago. I am 65 years old and 20 lbs overweight. When I decided to go to the ER, I had all of the classic symptoms, i.e., pressure feeling in chest, shoulders ached, left arm ached, nausea and vomiting. I'm glad I wasn't having a heart attack, but what do I have? Can you point me in the right direction? Thank you.
