I am a 20 year old male - it is now day 5 of consuming 36mg of Concerta. The 2 first days we're fantastic. I was easy going, I would overall say that my focus was good. I felt great/clear and got plenty done.
NOW day 3 up to now - I feel mostly the side effects, such as being irritated, depression, and zombie-like all throughout the day and NO effect of increase on attention. I'm paying attention as to know if I should continue or try something else or change the dosage.
Hi Psychonautic! I have taken Concerta and it didn't really help me with anything, I just got all the the side effects like feeling dead, sick, tired and annoyed. Seeing that the Concerta only helped for one day and every day after that was horrible you could go up on Mg's or ask for Adderall. Adderall helps with paying attention and getting things done with no problem. So I would just talk to your doctor and see if you could try something else. Good luck!

I have a friend that was on concerta, the same thing happened to her! She went back to doc and he told her that she was a "super metabolizer" which he explained that she builds up a tolerance faster than normal. He then put her on adderal. just a thought. You probablY should call your doctor and explain what is going on.

Also a 20 year old male. Use Concerta for concentration (36mg) daily. It significantly improved/improves my concentration and I get a lot of work done. However randomly I feel either depressed at times, usually on the "low" of the drug when it wears off, the effects of these side-effects gradually increase when I take it regularly.
I can definitely feel how this drug affects my behaviour as I recently stopped taking it for a week in my vacation, and I went back to my loony self. As soon as I started taking it again; during the morning to about 5 or 6 pm I feel very happy and am super productive, then I crash and feel awful and useless afterwards.
It also effects me socially - mainly during the evening, I can be irritable and lack interest even to talk to girls when I am out, opposed to when I am not on the drug I happily and openly speak to unfamiliar people when I am out. Its as if my personality has become introverted by the Concerta - which is strange considering I am usually happy and outgoing.
Going to see my doc soon, hopefully he will be aware of this and possibly give me an alternative as I really want to medicate myself with a course of ritalin as my academic performance and daily routine has improved significantly.
