My son has been on Vyvanse (30mg) for the last four and half years, had it upped to 40, there was no change. Dr. has just prescribed Concerta. My son has slipped enough and I want to get him on the right track. Any information is greatly appreciated.
Hello dalejrfan76. Concerta is designed as a drug for slow release and its main ingriedient is methlphenidate. Whereas Vyvanse main ingriedient is Lisdexamfetamine isn't slow release. Hopefully your son will respond better to the Concerta. Our bodies build up an immuntity to a drug and a change is more often than not a positive thing. Best of wishes and good health to you both, pledge
My son was on Strettera and felt piss off all the time, like wanting to punch out someone. He never did though. Thank God! Then he tried Vyvanse that worked well except it took away all his appetite. The doctor prescribe him PMS Cyproheptadine hcl (4mg). He takes half (2mg) at night before bed to give him appetite. We took him off for the summer but when he tried to go back on he had no appetite even with the Cyproheptadine. So we tried Concerta instead. So far so good. He has Adhd and is 13. We discussed it and this seems to be the best one yet for him. Hope this helps you. And yes he is still taking the apppetite pill because alot of these adhd pills take away your appetite anyway. But he really could not even eat with Vyvanse. He would only force down one meal if he was lucky.
