Also my right leg is slightly shorter. Will I have more problems with recovery?
Shouldn't have any more problems than usual. If x-rays and scans show serious joint damage then it's likely necessary to get it done. Good luck with your surgery.
I'm 43 and I'm having hip replacement Feb. 7th and if it's possible I won't be down long. I'm also a very active, so I wish you all the best and speedy recovery. I know a few people that have had it done and they all love their new hip... one guy I know squats 600lbs with his new hip and has never had any issues.
