Help, I have been suffering from severe insomnia now ever since my total knee replacement. I had the surgery the 2nd of Feb 2016. My dr placed me on a short term sleep aid(prescription). Even taking it I was still unable to go to sleep until at least 3 or 4 he after taking it. Is there any safe over the counter sleep aids I can take?
Hey sorry you are going through this. I was taking a supplement called adaptogen and relaxall capsules. It took a couple of days to work. Because it increases serotonin you have to be careful about not taking it with medication which also messes with your serotonin. I also drink chamomile tea for anxiety. It helps a lot... Good luck
Hi, one of the most popular and effective OTC sleep aids are the ones containing Diphenhydramine. However they are only intended for short term use. If you live in the one the countries where it is available, Melatonin can be very helpful and can be used long term. Please follow the instructions about blocking out ALL light to help them work most effectively. I read your comment about going to bed and waking at the same time daily, and this definitely does help your sleep cycle
