I've recently had an injection of JETREA, 2 months ago. It was successful and the small macular hole in my left eye closed. But now it looks like I am getting traction in my right eye and may have to consider an injection in that eye as well. I would like to learn more about the long term effects of JETREA post 12 months as I've not been able to find much. Any comments?
You may remember me I was so worried about having the injection and on the day it was scheduled tests showed my macular hole was closing so we did not need to do the shot. You were so helpful with information. The reason for my post is that my Dr. indicated that they will be running new trials to address the dim vision people are experiencing. That is all I know... I am not sure if this is a short term or long term issue. You may want to check with your Dr. This is the only link I can find http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/thrombogenics-initiates-major-post-marketing-patient-trial-with-jetrea-in-the-us-248312961.html
I am keeping a watch because there is no guarantee my hole will close or even remain partially closed. To me it is unsettling that there is so little information out there. Good luck.
I had a Jetrea injection in July of 2013 for a small macular hole. The hole closed but with fluid trapped under the retina. I just came from the doctor today. All the fluid has finally been absorbed. My vision has gotten slightly better but not as good as it was prior to the hole. I haven't had any long term issues. Every issue I had, happened within the first week and gradually went away. I would like to add, that my doctor says he will no longer give the injection because there have been a couple of cases where more than the vitreous was dissolved resulting in some loss of vision. Since they can't tell who this may happen to, he is no longer recommending the drug. I also have traction in my other eye but if it comes down to it, I'll have the surgery.
