I had a tracheotomy and feeding tube, I woke up 8 days ago
Okay, so you're probably going to be okay. When you've been intubated for some time your throat gets very irritated and it makes it hard to talk. Being in a coma is a trauma, make no mistake. The anxiety you're feeling is totally normal so don't let it get the best of you. Just try to stay calm for now. It will come back. You'll heal. Don't try gargling anything and all that crap people tell you. They don't know what they're talking about. If your doctor tells you to do it, go ahead. But if a layman tells you to do something, don't. Right now, just relax and take care of yourself. Whatever injury it was that caused the coma is enough stress to deal with. Don't worry so much. You'll be fine. You're going to have to take some time to recover and for right now you just need to take it a day at a time.
Those of us who have had traumatic injuries and major medical events tend to have a lot of stress. I know it as well as anyone. Just relax and you'll be okay. Alright? You'll be fine. Just take it slow and heal up. You will be able to speak again.
