... and so steroid drops and n-said drops were added. It cleared except a pale pink spot. I was diagnosed with staph marginal keratitis. I got a little white spot on my cornea. I then had pain and fullness in my ear and various treatments--- was real nauseas for a couple weeks or more--- fast forward to Jan. 7th.2016 and I feel like my hearing has gotten worse over a period of some weeks. I can hardly hear and am staying home because it is unsettling. I am 62 yr. old female with Psoriasis in my ears and have just been diagnosed with Hashimotos thyroiditis and have Psoriatic Arthritis. I've been told I need a hearing aid but waiting a couple weeks. Should I get an appt with ENT and see what he thinks?
Yes you should immediately seek help from an ENT. It should be one familiar with Cogans Syndrome. I was diagnosed when I was 25 by David Cogan. At that time it was not called an autoimmune disease. The cause was unknown. It seemed to be a deterioration of the 8th cranial nerve. There is no cure for it. The treTment was prednisone, high doses, over a long period of time. Initially I lost sight in both eyes, hearing in both ears and had vertigo and lost all ability to balance. After 1 1/2 years of steroids I was left with loss of hearing in one ear and marginal hearing in the other. Get a proper diagnosis first.
