... only for depression, I also like to go out for a drink maybe once a week will i still be able to do this whilst taking this medicine? Trish
To tell you the truth I didn't even know they made it or anyone used it anymore, it came out when I was in nursing school and that was 45 yrs ago. How old is your dr? Is it helping you? Its actually mostly for obsessive compulsivie disorder. I seriously doubt this will do anything for chronic pain. It works totally differently then the new anti depressants that they prescribe for chronic pain.
Treating chronic pain is an "off label" use of clomipramine (and other tricyclic antidepressants). It has frequently used for this purpose since the mid 80's.
It is advised that you limit you alcohol consumption as side effects are additive (in other words... if you take your clomipramine and then have a couple of drinks you may feel as though you've had one too many!) All the best.
