Hi, i'm glad your depression is under control. Unfortunately weight gain when taking antidepressants is common. The medication causes an increased appetite alongside reduced metabolic rate for burning calories. Calorie control and exercise is important, but if you are already doing this it is difficult to make any other suggestions? I'm assuming you don't have thyroid issues? Maybe you should discuss the weight increase with your doctor...
i REALLY AGREE WITH Dailhi she has it down good and as far as taking the antidepressent keep on it and talk with your doctor and thank god you found something to work... that is 3/4 the battle Kaza1 So happy for you keep it up until you have a good discussion with your doctor Chuck1957

Thank you so much for your response Delila and explaining how it all works. I don't have a thyroid problem. I have been thinking about stopping my medication and trying it on my own as the weight is starting to get my down. I feel a lot better but it's confusing to know whether it's the meds or the new me. I'm on a low dosage of 20mg because the dosage is so low would the side effects be less? I'll be seeing my doctor tomorrow.
Hi sorry its taken a while for me to get back to you... have you had your doctors appointment yet? If so how did it go? Personally i would be a bit concerned about discontinuing the medication, i would worry about you going down hill. I understand how bad the weight gain can make you feel, i'm in the same situation. Maybe try to reduce your calorie intake by 200 a day for now and see how you go?
