Suffered anxiety for over 20 years, but now just fed up with it, I suffer more with relaxing on a evening, I constantly keep my self busy..but I can't do this all the time, my gp gave me. Citalopram 10 mg and I worry more about taking them, I was on escitalopram which made my heart rate crazy, when stoped them I've had no more problems,I wasn't on them long enough to see any effects just wondering do these pills work to ease anxiety, I keep reading these reviews nd just not sure..
Gave up on you? Well, don't give up on yourself. You need a competent medical professional on board, I know it;s a major distressing hassle to find one. Referrals from friends are usually a good start, you can't get one from this GP who gave up, as that is a person in the wrong line of work.
You can find someone who can help you change your focus, change your coping skills, new information can work wonders when coming from a reliable, professional yet compassionate source.
So, I'd encourage you to make it your mission/goal to see this as opportunity for a new start, rather than an extension of the misery. I suffer from similar "demons." There is a lot, tons of help and hope, just please do not isolate yourself and/or try to get by on your own. OK? We're here, yes, but there's no substitute for face-to-face interaction with the right physician, and, have you sought out groups in your area? That's another powerful resource
Hello Molly, For myself and many others on Citalopram has got good results for anxiety and depression. For some people it does cause some side effects in the beginning that usually subsides around 10 days to a couple of weeks and to reach full benefit from it usually takes 4-6 weeks sometimes sooner for Citalopram. It only took me a few weeks with no side effects. I hope you feel better soon. Take care and be safe,
I'm sorry you are having so much anxiety... only people that have suffered from it, can understand. That's why I'm glad you came to this site. I have been on Celexa for anxiety and depression for over 12 yrs. It has made a difference in my life! I started with 10mg and with time have had to increase it, and now I take 40mg. - At first, it made me a bit groggy, but it soon passed. If I am going through a really, really hard time and feel overly anxious my Psych. has prescribed Ativan 1mg. - however, I only take it as a last result.
