I've been on citalopram hydobromide for 4 years. What is the max time u can be on it safely?

Please talk to your doctor to ascertain the longest time you can be on Citalopram as he/she is best able to answer your question. Your doctor can also inform you why you have been on it for 4 years and how much longer you need to be on the medication.

Hi i've been taking (a high dose of) Citalopram for 3 years now. My doctor is interested in trying to reduce the mg because of the risk of heart complications, but he isn't going to discontinue it. It is safe to take it for several years, it is a medication that can be used safely long term. But yes, as suggested, talk to your doctor if you are concerned.
