I've been prescribed citalopram for hot flushes and sweating related to stage 4 lung cancer. Does anyone have experience of this use? I am rather concerned about all the possible side effects, especially as I am also taking Tramadol.
Hi, i take Citalopram (for depression), have done for several years & i have had great success with it & hardly any side effects. The induction period can be a bit tough (first 4 weeks, give or take), but long term i haven't suffered any unwanted symptoms. I would say that maybe it has increased my appetite, but that is controllable. Did the same doctor prescribe both the Citalopram & Tramadol? Just asking because there is an interaction risk between the 2. Worst case scenario could be contracting Serotonin syndrome, however this is very rare. I took these medications together for years without any ill effects, but you should be aware of symptoms to look out for. Speak with your doctor if you are concerned...
