I am taking 20mg of citalopram daily
There are few studies looking at the effects of drugs on unfertilized eggs so that is really not known. You should be talking to an OB-GYN before trying to get pregnant, however. Citalopram can cause some birth defects when taken in early pregnancy and you can be pregnant for several weeks before you even know it and damage may be done during this time. Only your Dr can decide if the risk of you coming off the medication is greater than the risk of exposure to a fetus. They may want you to be off the medication several months prior to becoming pregnant or they may say that you can continue it but only the Dr can decide this. It is important to talk to him about this BEFORE you become pregnant!

Hi. I'm worried that citalopram is causing me to have heavier periods. Has this happened to any one?
