My doctor just weened me off Prozac while weening me on Celexa. I am now done taking my Prozac and have been taking the Celexa 40mg for about a week. I don't feel any better, in fact I feel worse. I have no energy, I'm completely unmotivated and I feel weak like I have the flu. I really want to give Celexa a fair chance especially for the anxiety which made me feel like I was crawling out of my skin. After this week I'm supposed to up my Celexa to 60mg and then move up to 80mg. Am I not feeling a change because I'm on too low a dose? How much time should I give it and how long until I don't feel like a total blob?
It can take up to a month before you see full benefits from the citalopram. However, in that time if you feel really depressed you should see your doctor.
40mg dose of citalopram is the recommended daily dose so you are not on a low dose at all. Please read the information in the links below.
I am currantly on a methadone reduction after being on it for one and a half years and have went from 60ml to 30ml without any real problems exept anxiety which iv sufferd from an early age . Trying Valium 17 years ago I thought I had cracked my anxiety how wrong I was and it eventualy resulted in heroin use , now im stable and of heroin my only problem is staying of the diazepam when my anxiety is at its worst .
