Hello all. I've been taking Cipralex 10 mg for about a year. It has helped me. After stopping the medication my state started deteriorating (anxiety and depression) so I started taking the medication again. I'm wondering if 5mg is also a therapeutic dosage? Does anybody have good long-term effects on 5mg? And if I choose to raise the dosage to 10mg, how long should I take the 5mg?
Hi, trueself! Five milligrams of Cipralex/Lexapro/escitalopram can be a therapeutic dose for many people although the recommended maintenance dose is ten milligrams. It just depends on how you respond to it.
Raising the dose should be done only after a minimum of one week ~ with the knowledge and consent of your physician.
I took Lexapro for nearly four years with excellent results. Unfortunately, I am Bipolar and it began causing me to have manic episodes so I had to stop it. Still, it was just great for my depression/anxiety.
With my best wishes, Wildcat
