Ciatic nerve will cause burning all the way from top to foot and last up to 4 days... but i can go uo to 2 weeks without pain... 1983 i crushed and splinter my tail bone... now it getting worst every month lasting longer.
Ask your primary care doctor to refer you to a pain management clinic. Those doctors can do epidurals, nerve blocks, trigger point injections, etc. You might not need any meds. In the meantime, as long as you are not on a blood thinner and they don't bother your digestive system, you can take a NSAID like Motrin, Aleve, Advil or the generic Ibuprophen. Just be sure that you take no more than the bottle directions say to take, unless your doctor tells you differently. NSAIDS are anti-inflammatories and will help with the inflammation of the sciatic nerve, which is causing your pain. I hope you feel better soon. Please see your doctor, though.
If you have had this problem since 1983 I would say it is not going away. Check with your Doc about options. NSAIDS will destroy your stomach in the long term, taken with food or not. Consult Your Doc! This sounds like a Chronic pain problem . You might want to see a pain management specialist. Hope you get help. Good Luck!
Ask for an MRI to see if it's worse then ask to see a rheumatologist. Pain management helps to just kind of mask the pain I was with then for two years I got no relief. I went out on my own and found a surgeon and he fixed me in 6 weeks I'm 75% better. Pm said surgery would never help. I can almost tell you your looking at radicularopathy or which is fixable with surgery.
