I have had both shoulders operated on,My right twice and my left Once but going back under the knife in August for my left again. Both have been so terribly torn there is really no tissue left to put them back together,My question is,I am taking oxycontin for the long term and roxicodone for the break through, yet i still have horrible pain in both are these the best medications for this kind of chronic pain?.Is anyone in a similar situation?
There are other opiates that are stronger than the oxycontin and roxicodone. You may want to investigate Dilaudid or even stronger is Opana. These are both morphine derivatives and come in continuous release as well as immediate release formulas.
Hope you get relief soon and good luck on the upcoming surgery,
dang friend, sorry to hear all th missery u must be goin through! But to anser ur question you realy do almost hav the best of pain meds possible,my question 2 you is do u think after ur next surgery the doctors may try and cut u back??? Ive had 2 back surgerys where thet removed disk and took bone grafts of my hip and fussed 3 veribrs together along with 2 6in steel rods and eventually even after they said id never be able to do the jobs that im skilled in the cut me off ! Im just now gettin to go to a pain clinic for the first time since oct of 2007 and hope to find somreeif there??? who knows, the way pill heads hav screwed it up for those of us that trully neeb pain mannagement! Maybe u cld ask about a dose increase on both or maybe some dilaudid or the opanas are a good pain med, tell em like i did untill they make a machine that tells them u are or ur not hurting stay on their ass !!
Tell em u neen some releife and throw in there some sleep wld be nice to !!! Hope it works out for ya bro !!
Damn man you must be in a lot of Paine , I hope the best for you but there is a much better combination of meds for your situation it is Methadone and percacet for break threw I can tell you this kuz I whent threw the same thing you are going trew with your meds I suffered for 2 years until I got a chance to go to a PM Dock that I still go to now and he is a great Dock this is the combination of meds that I am on and it has been working great for 1-1/2 years now with not much of any dose increase at all I'm not saying it would work for you but I would be willing to bet on it that this would give you the most relieve from your Paine you have had in years this is a very good combination of meds with very little side effects from them I would deff. stay away from the oxy and stuff like that as your body gets use to it and you will always be needing a dose adjustment ,so I would deff. ask my dock about the methadone and percs.
Good luck and things will get a lot better you need to get a good dock that will listen to you there are still a lot of them out there that do care !!!
i am sorry you are having so muchpain, I know how that feels, it can be consuming.Have you tried lyrica for the chronic pain, I know I was experiencing chronic pain with fibromyalgia, I know you are thinking, your pain is more severe, but it wouldn't hurt to try it, it calms the nerve receptors that signal pain to the brain, so it would only make sense for you to try themask your dr to try you out on a starting dose of 200 or 300mg a 2 to three times a day. I hoope that you get some relief from Lyrica.
