Hey mnmomma,
Don't know much about your condition, but I am here to be supportive. Do you know what kind of GI tube they are going to insert? Sometimes learning about the procedure and what it entails will help reduce the associated anxiety, at least it does for me. If you would like to chat more, please stay in touch.
Laurie
Sometimes you don't have to have a ceertain condition or disease for this to happen. A gall stone can cause this too. Am surprised they haven't done an ultrasound to find out if this is what could be causing your flare. You will be hospitlaized won't you? It could be what they call an NG tube. which basically goes down the nose & into the stomache & has suction. My husband has had this twice for an obstructed bowel. It's uncomforatable, but not life threatening . Pancreatitis is a very painful thing to have & my heart goes out to you. Maybe they can find out what is cauings this & help you get over it. I wish you all the best...
Thank you! I don't really know how to use this completely yet!
Hi. I have had digestive/intestinal/gastro probs since I gd surgery at beginning of 2009 when I was 28. I.am almost 31 & I totally know how scared u r. I was scared then and am worried now because we still don't know the cause of my probs. I pray u have better luck. I am here to help in any way possible. I don't know exactly what they r doing that to u for but as embarrassed as I am to share this, I literally could not go to bathroom for almost.12 wks. They inserted tube thru my nose all the way down to stomach to put some liquid lax in me. I was in hospital 3 or 4 days until I was cleaned out and they put me out and attempted to do colonoscopy on me but I woke up 2/3rds of the way thru it so they stopped.
Thank you so much for your input! It will be in the side of my abdomen.
I don't know how it will be, but I am atleast here for moral support. I friended u so u can send me private messages, and u can friend me back and I can send u the same. There r great people on here. The ones who answered r great if u need them. And if u keep coming on u will make so many friends. Everyone is so great, non-judgemental, helpful people and we r one big supportive, goofy, happy, online fam.
Sounds pretty serious. I can only suggest what works for me during my physical trials and thats prayer. its ok to be scared, but worrying can cause more issues. the serenity prayer is a good place to start. I wish I could be of more support, your issue is of a nature, medically, I know liitle about.I encourage you though to become familiar with all pertaining to it and let go,let the God of your understanding have it. Turn it over. There's little else you CAN do. I'll be praying God's healing power and best be yours. Be encouaged today !
Thank you... you are very kind!
Hi mnmomma,
Well, I have Chronic Pancreatitis also. I had a stent placement done through surgery. The GI tube? Is an endoscopy? I agree with the other person.
I would call my hospital the one where you will be going. Ask them to send you some information on the topic. Then, after you read what will be done?
You will probably feel more relieved. If you think you might need something to calm you down before the procedure? Call your doctor right away and let him/her know about your anxiety. Since I have anxieties? They always put me out through the procedure. I did have an GI Tube placed down my throat, they did give me something.. It really was not that bad.. and I am afraid of all tests. Let me know how you are doing. Okay? Lahayle
Yes they are putting a stent in my pancreatic duct! I have 2 small children - will I be able to care for them?
It sounds to me like they are going to put a gastric tube in. It goes into the abdomen directly into the stomach and is usually used to feed someone or to give fluids and medications too. Have you lost a great deal of weight and have been unable to eat? Do they plan to use liquid feedings in the tube?
I agree with DzooBaby, They wanted to place a Feeding tube in my shoulder to have a nurse come in at night to feed me through that tube. I had lost over 90 lbs in less than two months. Just keep asking questions to your professionals. My hopes are that you will be calm, and try to find out from your Doctor exactly what is going to be done. Lahayle
Yes I have lost a lot of weight. I have chronic diarrhea & cannot eat! You are exactly correct! Please help me I am so scared! Thank you in advance :)
hi mnmomma2011 - i'm here to support you in any way i can. you are very young to be going thru so much. my heart goes out to you. i don't know much about pancreatitis - but i do know alot about being frightened due to medical procedures. it's horrible whether you have support right there or if you're alone. i hope you have a friend taking you and bring you back home. just having that is very reassuring. has your doctor gone over the entire procedure with you? knowing what will happen is always great to know! you have us rooting (sp?) you on and sending lots of positive energy. so you won't really be alone... you'll have all of us right there with you in spirit . hold on tight to that knowledge and write as much and as often here as you feel like before hand and then of course afterwards. i'd like to know more about how you're feeling now and what pancreatitis is. please educate me. i'd like to get to know you better. ok?
Hi mnmomma2011,
I too am from a small town and know what no support is like. My heart goes out to you. I hope your GI procedure went smooth and pain free. I've had two in the last 27 years along with a colenoscopy every 5 years. They keep looking but never find anything,(I guess that's good). How many gastroenterologists have you been to? My first Dr called my condition pancratitis even though my pancrease was not swollen, enflamed or sore to touch. I had cronic diarrhea with intense abdominal pain,( the kind that leaves you on the floor screaming). I hope Ultrase mt 20 works as well for you as it does for me. It's a huge leap forward from the old pancrelipase capsules that I've survived the first 25 years of my condition with. Best of luck to you and I hope to hear from you
Dear mnmomma2011, I have been dealing with Chronic Pancreatitis for over 14 years now and I know it's not a great thing to deal with. I have never been a drinker or diabetic, but I did have gallstones and had to have my gallbladder removed. I've had just about everything you can think of except a GI tube. So the only advice I can give is to just pray. I will be praying for you as well and if you need someone to talk to I'm here. Everything will work out and there's a lot of great people here for you. Stacy
Hi mnmomma! I surely hope your procedure went well. :)
Happy belated birthday from me! My birthday's in September also. What day was yours?
Your new Dc family's thoughts & prayers are with you. Please tell us how you're doing, momma. Thank you!
All the best to you & your family! from Wendy :)
