... I am allergic to Demerol, codeine, and morphine. My pain has gotten more intense. I take Creon before meals yet still have diarrhea. Does anyone know if there are other types of pain meds that have helped you?
I'm sorry to hear about your problem. It almost sounds like you have a psudocyst with the destining. I take morphine suphate (you are allergic to it) and I also take oxycodone. You can also try diluadid. I thank god every day for pain meds. Good luck. Oh, I almost forgot, when I first started Morphine, I used to think I was allergic to it because of severe itching. It turned out, I just wasn't used to it. Morphine is a really strong pain medication. Dilaudid is stronger than morphine, but has less side effects. I hope this helps you.
I've had pancreatitis three times. and I understand what you are going through, but when you are having an attack, why are you eating? When I have an attack,no food for me, and when I start to eat again, it is on liquid first, then slush (for lack of a better word), and then soft foods. It takes weeks for me to eat normally again. Are you giving yourself enough time to heal before you eat? What are you eating? Have you spoken to a dietitian? Another idea is that you probably have gastroparesis, and the answer to that is antibiotics on a daily basis. You might want to ask your doc to see a gastro and get a gastroparesis test. It might not be chronic pancreatitis at all and the gastroparesis is very painful!
I wish that I had more to tell you, but you have to give more info. Good luck, and I hope that you find your answer soon!!
