... that have serious pain, i suffer in pain every day. been to 3 pain clinics all they want to do is give me antidepressants, which make me more depressed and anxious, tell me other people live with pain my #9 like someone elses 3, dont we have a right to live comfortably? or is it a privelege? when will this bs stop i have mris, that show what i have wrong. how can i lie about that?
There are several. One of the most active, and therefore the biggest pain in the butt of the government was forced to fold by the government going after them on financial reasons. We are all living in pain and not having appropriate treatment because of interference by the government who thinks they know what is better for us then we do. Write to your congressman, email the president. Let the attorney general know. There are several petitions online too, sign them. I'll get to you with a web site or too for chronic pain patients also. I'm at work right now.
I know how you feel coldman. I was doing not too bad on the painkillers but doctor said I was taking too many and that I was going to end up with a bleeding ulcer or would start bleeding internally and die. So he put me on lyrica which helped with the pain but made me so forgetful it was silly. So now with my back he put me on cymbalta which helped a bit but made me nauseated. He left for a holiday and he gets a surprise when he gets back as I am getting off the cymbalta as it was depressing me so badly that one day I found myself trying to figure out how much I needed to take to end it all.
Now I have never done that before and am not going to take anymore antidepressants when what I need is an effective anti inflammatory and a pain medication.
Hi coldman (and everyone else)
I don't know of any organizations, but like kaismama said, we could all write our congressmen/women and complain.
We are treated like addicts or junkies! It's ridiculous. All we (most of us) want is to live some semblance of a normal life. I'd like to be able to work, do chores, cook, do laundry and be able to ENJOY my life, we all want to enjoy life, but it's so difficult when you are in excruciating chronic pain!
Thank you for asking your question, coldman, I'm going to google this subject to see if there are organizations to join for we chronic pain sufferers.
Best wishes to you,
robsgirlamy2009 is the only one that understands what I'm saying--- That a person can go into an ER--- and they won't give you any pain killer from an accident, where you have broken bones-they tell you to take 600 mgs of Ibuprofin. I was in a dog attack--nothing for pain- Problem I'm allergic to Tylenol and NSAIDs. I suffer--- I had day surgery-part of my nose and lip were removed-It was very painful- I couldn't eat- The surgeon wouldn't give me anything, because she was scared of losing her license. I had to get through it with popsicles. I HOPE THAT NONE OF YOU GET INTO AN ACCIDENT OR BREAK BONES, BECAUSE YOU PROBABLY WON'T GET ANYTHING FOR ACUTE PAIN, UNLESS YOU ARE HOSPITALIZED. mY KEY WORDS THAT MAKE THEM THINK I'M A DOPER - aLLERGIC- You should fear more than what you already do---
Savella Side Effects
In 2004, I was forced to leave police work and apply for a duty disability resulting from an on duty neck injury.
I worked part-time from 2005-2011. Due to extreme chronic neck pain, fatigue, low stamina, and Parkinsonism, I have been off of work completely since July of 2011.
To help cope with my chronic
nerve & muscle pain, my doctors have tried me on Neurontine, Zoloft, Cymbalta,
Lyrical and most recently Svaella.
I have experienced debilitating side affects (except from Zoloft) and very little pain relief from all of the above medications.
I was forced to wean off all of these meds after only one - two months due to terrible side effects. Then I went through horrible "withdrawal symptoms!"
Most recently, I had to wean off of Zoloft because my new Dr asked me to try Savella. He said it was Reported to have very few side affects. (See below for my month of hell with Zoloft withdrawal & side effects from Savella and now Savella withdrawal.
I have experienced some relief with little side affects from,
Cycobenzprine (for muscle pain)
Clonazapam (for nerve pain)
Ibueporphine ( for swelling)
And I continue to use these medications.
My main pain relief comes from warm water showers, 20 min baths in sea salts, low impact water therapy, ice packs, massage, topical pain relievers, Tens Unit, decompression of my neck, power naps in the afternoon, and following a strict schedule and not doing more than my body can take.
I started seeing a new pain Dr when I moved to the JAX area and he recommended I try Savella.
I was so sick for two weeks after being on Svella, I finally went to the ER on May 30 because I was so weak & dizzy. My heart rate was 120 resting and I was having heart palpitations!
My blood pressure was higher than it's ever been in my life.
I have been 114/70 or within that range my entire adult life.
This a list of my symptoms within 2 weeks of starting Svella.
Heightened erratic blood pressure;
Heaviness & pain in lower stomach region
Worse Head ache than normal
Worse Fatigue than normal
Extreme Blood shot eyes
"Zaps" in my wrists, my face, my head were much worse than normal
"Whoosh" sensation inside my head every 10-15 minutes.
I have suffered potentially
life threatening events since starting Savella on May 1, 2013.
I weaned off for 3 days and then, under the care of my DR, stopped due to the extreme side effects.
I am now 10 days off Savella and my BP is lower 132/81 as is my resting heart rate 91.
I pray my blood pressure goes back to normal as does my resting heart rate.
I would highly recommend you read the 100's of comments online posted by people who have tried Savella.
It appears many Docs down play the side affects of these drugs and do not explain how severe the side effects can be!
A doctor in Ormond Beach Florida actually accused me of "enjoying being in pain" because I wanted off Cymbalta due to it's side effects.
I am still walking, taking warm water therapy, completing a daily routine of lite yoga and Stretching exercises. Using a hot shower and hot baths to cope with the pain.
I am taking just the meds I listed above and I started taking 5-HTP in May as it helps with the nerve pain zaps as well as other recommended supplements.
My best to all who suffer with chronic pain, "the invisible monkey on your back" and please don't Forget Life is still precious even when it's clouded with pain.
Keeping the faith in Florida,
Kathy Felton Paige
