i take 5 mg noratryptplene it doesnot work
A gp could give anything, however they won't because the government thinks they should meddle in our healthcare. Nortriptyline isn't a pain med. It may help with chronic pain, but its not going to stop it alone. About all he's going to give you is an NSAID. You need a pain dr for anything more, and believe me, even they don't want to prescribe them because of the amount of documentation needed and the risk they take because of the dea.
As some of the other posters have said, you can't really get anything from your GP for chronic pain. You have to see a pain specialist for those types of meds.
I suffer from Chronic Pain myself, and after some trial an error, my doctor prescribed me MS Contin ER, 60 mgs, 3 times a day. It worked so well, that sometimes I would forget to take it.
So, it is my suggestion to you is too see a pain doc, and suggest this medication. Typically, Doctors don't ant you telling them what to prescribe, so you will have to say something like " A Friend of mine suffers the same thing I do, and he/she takes MS Contin. What do you think, would that be good for me".
Personally, I think it's the best choice for you.
