And have been seen by my pain management dr once and I have another appointment next week what should I say to him that my current pain med isnt working? Because im tired of taking extra because one isnt working and I dont want to be in anymore pain than already am. And dont want the dr to think im just a drug seeker. I dont have insurance to have the surgery to remove the cysts and they get quite large. Please let me know what type of pain meds should I use and talk to my pain dr about.
There is help out there if you need surgery and can't pay. First check on medicaid. Then see if there is a free clinic in your town. Cysts are a
danger even if they didn't cause pain, and I can't picture that no one would help you to get the surgery.
You just tell the pain dr the truth. Always, honesty is definately the best policy with them. They know the meds, they don't want or need any suggestions from their patients.
You tell him they aren't helping. You've developed a tolerance, which means your body got used to it. Hopefully he'll prescribe something more effective, however, beware of the "taking more than instructed" as many Docs frown on this, and these days, things are getting seriously tight for pain patients. Also, I advise you NOT to go in "suggesting" things, THAT will peg you as a shopper and/or raise a red flag for sure. Tell the Doc what's up and let him make the decisions. Best to you , hope this helps.
Pain meds are not doing anything but "putting a band aid" on the problem. Sooner or later, you need to address the source of the problem. No Dr is going to keep giving pain meds when surgery will fix the problem. You need to have the Dr help you find a way to get the surgery covered or send you to a Dr who will accept payments or reduce the cost so you can afford it or both. Just taking pain meds to cover up the symptoms is no way to treat this and you are not doing yourself any favors by getting dependent on a medication. You need to find a way to get the surgery done. I take it that hormones have not helped at all?
