Ice to my neck has always been my help for tension headaches. What is prescribed for you for your headaches at the present time? I don't know what you have available. Medications like fiorinal are excellent for tension headaches. Also try to keep your shoulders and neck from getting tight. Do stretching exercises.
I'm the opposite, heat on my neck or across my head works better. Since I have migraines, a beta blocker has helped to prevent them. I used to get several bad ones monthly and now I get a few a year. You have to be careful when taking pain tablets because they can sometimes make the pain worse by causing "rebound" pain meaning once the pain tablet wears off, the pain comes back worse than before requiring you to take more tablets and it becomes a terrible vicious cycle. I dont know if you have this product available to you but Celestial Seasonings Tea has a tea called Sleepytime and it sometimes helps a headache for me. I once kept taking pain tablet after pain tablet (hydrocodone/acetaminophen) and couldnt shake the headache then I tried some of this tea and it ease off finally and since then I have tried it again and sometimes it is enough to ease it back some. Also at the first signs I take two acetaminophen 500mg and two or three ibuprofen and this can offset one is I catch it earl enough. Once you are in full blown headache, nothing seems to work very well. Have you had your vision checked? Also, have you had a scan of your sinuses? Sometimes these things can cause chronic headache.
