... afternoon, besides adderall is there a good medicine to boost energy in the afternoon? I tried a second vyvanse and it worked but it's expensive and my med provider clinic is against prescribing two vyvanse a day anyway
Have you considered the long- acting AD/HD med Concerta?
It was apparently designed to be effective for approximately 12 hours (was specifically designed to replace immediate-release methylphenidate x 3 times daily). It was also supposedly designed to avoid acute tolerance for the med.
Someone very close to me. (An adult) was RX'ed Concerta (he has issues with Excessive Daytime Sleepiness, etc.) & apparently it worked extremely well for him all day.
You can always ask your doctor about it! I also thought of these meds: Nuvigil, Dexedrine Spansules. However, Dexedrine is comparable to Adderall except it only has the D-Amphetamine isomer without the L-Amphetamine isomer that Adderall has.
Mac pretty much said it all. Unfortunately I did not have a great experience with vyvanse even on 140 mg daily, turns out not to be the oracle drug they wanted. There are plenty of extended release/long acting meds you can try. Along with concerts, there's daytrana, Adderall XR, dexidrine spansules, to name a few. Nuvigil, although I've heard mixed reviews and I personally think it tastes horrible, is still very expensive. I would research all your possibilities and also research which medications provide assistance in payments, most do.
And maybe a fast acting med would work best which I'll let you look up on your own, I don't want to go on and on. Hope you get some help.
