My cholesterol has normalized but I still take 5mg Crestor. Can garlic softgels be substituted. I thought of garlic tablets as a substitute for Crestor in as much as it is a more natural way of lowering chloesterol. Am I doing right indoing so? Right now, my cholesterol level has become normal.
Before you started Crestor did you try to reduce your cholesterol "naturally" by paying special attention to your diet ... if so was it successful? Diet and garlic supplements etc may be sufficient to control cholesterol in some patients. I'm not so sure about you though... given that you have already being prescribed Crestor.
Your cholesterol levels have become normal because of the Crestor. The drug is working well for you. If you stop the Crestor your cholesterol levels will begin to creep back up again increasing your risk of heart attack and stroke.
Do not stop taking Crestor without talking to your doctor first.
I just posted a question like yours, knowing my cholesterol has become, beyond normal, and I am thinking of reducing my 5mg of Crestor by half and see where it goes, and eventually not take it. I have not read up on garlic gels, I will closely follow your answers and see, perhaps I will also take garlic gels, or you can follow mine and reduce by half your Crestor intake. In any case, I would like to get feedback from people experiencing what we are going through...
