I can definitely say that these pills are working for me. I do not get the urge to smoke as much as i did. I have gone to 1 1/2 packs a day to under 10 a day. I have a close friend that took the Chantix 7 years ago, quit in a week and never picked up another cigarette. He is criticizing me now saying that I'm a loser, still a smoker and I should have quit by now. I told this person that everyone is different and I am definltely trying!!! Any help to the weary over here???
I have been on the Chantix now for 20 days. I am a 30 year smoker and I really want to quit?

Basically I was just wondering how long I should continue to take the Chantix and continue to smoke although my smoking is much less. My doctor prescribed me two boxes (the first for 35) days and the continuing one. I want to make sure I am "ready" to quit (which I really am trying) and not try to quit too soon and blow it. I am so proud of myself of my improvement and the amount of cigarettes I smoke on a daily basis now compared to what I did. Its a good feeling :) When i watch the commercials it says I was a 30 year smoker and quit in 3 months with Chantix, that makes me feel better....LOL Thanks for everything! Maria Lee
I was a 15 year smoker, 1/2- 1 pack a day smoker (depending on my stress level) and quit within 7 days on chantix but I took it for a month to get rid of all of my cravings. My coworker and I quit at the same time and she was older than me and a smoker for more than 30 years, 2 packs a day, it took her more than 2 months... To reduce her smoking significantly. She was down to like 5 a day. Eventually she quit after 4 months so you can definitely do it! And everyone is different, you are right. It all depends on your want to quit and how much you dislike the taste that comes when smoking while on chantix.
