I have been on Paxil 10 mg for many many years and it is not working as well as it used to .I don't know whether to increased to 20 mg or just go on something different altogether .I was thinking about Lexapro .has anyone made the change and how did it do for you?
Hi, Robyn! 20 ~ 50mg/day is the standard maintenance dose for Paxil so you've been taking a very low dose and have lots of room to try an increase. On the other hand, antidepressants DO have a tendency to start *pooping out* during long term use. Lots to discuss with your doctor!
Another option you could ask about is an add-on like Abilify or Rexulti. These drugs enhance the effectiveness of the medication you're already taking and also work in their own right.
Just be sure to address all your concerns and ask questions until you're are comfortable making your decision.
Best regards, Wildcat
