It's now been nearly 48 hours since taking the cephlexin, and I'm still in pain. Is this stuff ever going to work? What should I do?? This pain in my kidney is dreadful! Please help!.
What to do is continue to take it, if the pain is bad enough go to the ER, otherwise keep on the schedule and get in to see your Dr asap. Also, 48-hours hardly enough time for this med to do it's job, often times takes 3/4 of the total prescribed amount before it's really done it's job, hen as they say keep taking it despite feeling better.
Cephalexin is for cystitis (bladder UTI), not for the kidney. It's better to have cultures done in order to find out what kind of bacteria caused the UTI. Cipro is for UTI w/hematuria mostly and the bacteria will be E. Coli in most of the cases. However, if the bacteria is "Extended Spectrum beat-lactamase E. Coli, then it will be unresponsive to Cipro and Cephalexin.
