I have had Lyme disease in the past and am worried it is coming back, can't sleep, achy joints and almost every other symptom, plus some new ones, that I had right before the Lyme was finally diagnosed. I went to a new Dr. today and she prescribed some things for my muscle aches and pain from the muscle and joints but she also prescribed Celexa. Now that I am reading on it I see it is an antidepressant and not a sleep aid. I have never been depressed and the pharmacist said that he has never seen it prescribed for sleeplessness. Has anyone ever had it for that? I really don't want to take if it is not going to help. Especially if side effects are suicidal and depression. Why add more on my plate.
I have never heard of celexa being used for sleeplessness either. I took celexa for depression only and I took it in the morning as it would keep me awake if I took it too close to my bed time, but other members from this site may have more information on celexa that may be able to answer you better.
I am sorry I couldn't help more.
I hope you find your answer soon... pamee
Hi ptw111 Here in the northwest i have filled lots of prescriptions for lyme's were you treated with antibiotics as soon as you were bit??? When we go out in the woods camping, hunting, whatever the first think i do is stip and look and even if i get the tick out clean i go or call the doctor and go through the regiment of antibiotics its better than finding out you get lymes I don't want to take a chance but once treated if its soon enough you usually don't get flair up unless you were bit again... Anyway i wanted to say a side effect o celexa which i copied and paste now dizziness or fainting
But this is a rare one drowsiness in all my years as a pharmacy technician i have never seen it used for sleep, quite the oppisite most people take in the am because of the wound up effect it gives but a study years ago has found out that many people with chronic pain joint pain do much better or have to take less pain pills when taking a antidepressant, they are not sure why but it works great..i seen many people taking strong meds be able to almost stop there pain meds but to sleep i go with kaismama call the doctor i have a feeling more times than not it keeps you awake..good luck Chuck 1957 retired phacy technician Cpht.
