Within about 12-24 hours of the first dose, my husband seemed like a new person. He went from being very angry to very calm. I'm having a hard time trusting that a personality change can happen this fast. Is it likely the drug could be effective this quickly?
Concerned2468; No it well not work that fast, It could be the sensitive part that does hit you pretty fast Just make sure he continues to take it every day about the same time and one good thing about this one it does kick in faster than about any in its class to reach the total blood level it's like 4 weeks. He may have some up's and downs during the time he is getting to the level and even more so during the first 2 weeks but any side effects he may get well go away pretty fast. But you never know I have heard of many people that have hardly had any problems wth this one and just having the sedation is enough to keep him calmed down. Just understand if he flairs up a bit between the first 2 or 3 weeks. but sounds like your getting some good results. try and just keep him calm.
Studies show that these drugs start affecting the brain within the first few hours. We typically don't see noticeable effects for at least 5-7 days though. It could also be placebo effect. It could also be a hypomanic or manic response to the SSRI. But here's the question, does it matter if it's a placebo effect? If he feels better, even if just a short while, enjoy it!
