i feel taking antidepressent would just cover up the problem. does any one have a major thing going on and feel u just need to get out of the situation, and fix the problems in your life instead of taking these drugs
Depression is not only caused by situations. It can be a sign that our brains aren't making enough serotonin. Then when we get in situations, we can't handle them because we are already in danger of depression. Taking medication can help us cope with the problems at hand. It keeps them from becoming overwhelming. Meds cannot change the situation but they help us deal with the problem effectively. Without medication I can't cope with much at all, yet with it I can deal with my life and the problems there in quite efficiently.
Hello squaw65. No. Celexa will not cover up the problem. If that were the case, Celexa would be the number one antidepressant and the only available in the world. Psychiatric drugs work through a very simple yet complicated path and the final destination is our brain. Our brain is in a need of an adjustment and a drug such as Celexa helps to accomplish that. It helps, yet it does not cover up the reason you are taking the drug. Much like a piano or a car needing a tune up. Our brain is a organ that is both simple yet extremely complex. The brain needs nurishment. When we are sad, unhappy, Celexa is helping to create a source of food, which the brain is unable make on its own. That is the delema. Psychiatric depression in the elderly is as old as the ages and the treatment today has much improved for seniors. The psychiatric drugs such as Celexa will never cover up any form of depression, they however do help to make a persons life liveable. Celexa might help you. It possibly might not. Another drug might have to be attempted. Once the Celexa has been in your body and it has reached the level where only you yourself know how well it is performing, you might then decide, yes I can live with it (Celexa) or no, its not for me or I just do not need it. Regards, pledge
