... needed for years for my anxiety, but it tends to cause depression. What seems to work well is a combination of .5 mg Rivotril with the Celexa in the morning. I felt guilty about this, but realize quality of life is more important. I get councelling also. Will I be able to eventually stop the Rivotril and let the Celexa completely over for the anxiety?
I have been on Celexa 10mg for 6 weeks. Getting treated for anxiety. I have been taking Rivotril as?

Hi, Empty! Celexa is one of the antidepressants that are very commonly prescribed when anxiety is also a significant problem. As pamee says, it might be difficult to guage your response while you're also taking clonazapam; your doctor might consider having you withdraw from it and that will be a fairly long process. Kicking benzodiazipines can be difficult for some people.
Now what's this about feeling guilty??? You have nothing to feel guilty about!
Best wishes, WCV

Thank you for your quick response! So does this mean that Celexa alone will eventually treat the anxiety in full? Do I need to give it more time to work than just the 6 weeks?
It depends, the celexa may or may not help. 6-8 weeks is long enough to tell if its going to work, but you really wont know until you're completely off the benzo. There are many medications to try if the celexa doesn't work.
Have you ever tried Buspar? It is a medication for anxiety that you take daily.
